Hello everyone!
This past year has been my first year of blogging, and it’s been rewarding to say the least. I started up The Vegetarian Ginger one year ago because I liked cooking, liked taking photos and truthfully, I wanted something to show in a portfolio for jobs. As I kept on writing and cooking and photographing, it became a lot more than that.
I’ve connected with literally thousands of people, I’ve reached 160 countries and I’ve forced myself to keep writing and cooking, even when it was the last thing I wanted to do. This blog has been amazing for motivation, and if anything it’s shown me that I still have everything to learn about cooking.
I want to thank food bloggers like Frugal Feeding, Laura’s Mess and Sally’s Baking Addiction (among many, many others) for being inspirational and friendly.
I’m going to give you a little breakdown of what I’ve seen in the past year.
For starters, this is the weirdest thing anyone ever Google-searched to get to my blog.
My most popular post was these mozzarella sticks.
My very first recipe posted to the blog was for mug brownies.
One of the most handy tips I learned was how to re-purpose cake batter (no, seriously…life changing).
And I became obsessed with putting foods inside other foods.
Thanks to everyone whose kept up with the blog, tried out some recipes and let me know what you thought! I have no plans of stopping any time soon and have lots of plans for the blog that will be coming out soon.
Happy eating, cooking and photo-snapping,
Veronica Sheppard
Congrats on a year of blogging – that’s an accomplishment. I’ve been blogging for 5 months now, and sometimes I love it and other times I feel like giving up (it takes so much of my time!). I can’t believe you posted such an awesome recipe for your first post. I don’t even want to look back at my first post. Anyway, congrats again!! Celeste š
Thanks Celeste! I know exactly how you feel, I feel like it’s pretty rewarding at the end of the day.
I absolutely love your blog! The recipes are so inspiring and your food pictures make me drool every single time! Seriously, I wish I could take pics like that! š keep up the good work and I am looking forward to many more delicious recipes!
Thanks very much! All your food photos from the Italy trip look delicious as well š
Congratulations, Veronica! Looking forward to more fun recipes and fine photos. (One of our favourite posts so far? The Sweet Potato Poutine!) May the tortes be with you! Michelle
Thanks Michelle!
What an amazing summary of your first year – well done for making it this far! I love how you “became obsessed with putting foods inside other foods” – ha ha ha, I can’t think of a better obsession š
And I really don’t want an avocado for an uncle …
Congratulations Veronica! It’s been such a pleasure watching you experiment and grow, and boy have you grown. I adore all the recipes you make and oh oh boy! am I excited to see the rest. š
Happy anniversary! And I love the weird google searches…I’ve never had anything as left-field as ‘I don’t want an avocado for an uncle’. Hilarious. I hope the person found the advice they were looking for.
Thank you š I actually googled it myself because I was so curious how somebody ended up at my blog from that search. Turns out it’s a book! Still pretty strange though haha
